Put Feet to Our Prayers

Diana Derringer: "Many people believe in the power of prayer.
  • We pray for one another.
  • We pray for our own concerns.
  • We share prayer requests.
  • We report answers to prayer.
  • We keep prayer lists.
  • We pray at meals.
  • We pray before we go to bed.
  • We pray at church.
We can pray anytime and anyplace. We can also pray from any position:
  • Hands together
  • Hands apart
  • Standing
  • Sitting
  • Lying down
  • Kneeling
However, we sometimes need to get off our knees (or whatever our position). We need to put feet to our prayers. When we put feet to our prayers, we exercise more than our feet.
  • Our ears listen for God’s direction.
  • Our eyes see problems around us.
  • Our minds decide what to do.
  • Our feet go where needs exist.
  • Our hands reach out to help.
We often think or say, “Somebody ought to do something.”

Well, take a good look in the mirror. We are somebody.

So let’s get out there and do something. Let’s put feet to our prayers.

“If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?” (1 John 3:17 NIV).

Jesus is More than my Savior

Jesus is more than my Savior
He's also my very best friend.
He's here whenever I need Him.
On Him I can always depend.

He wakes me every morning;
He's with me all through the day.
And when I'm ready to go to bed
With me all night He will stay.

I have no other friend like Him.
He answers whenever I call.
He only wants what's best for me.
He picks me up each time I fall.

He knows all of my weaknesses
And from His path I might stray.
Yet I'm assured He'll forgive me
If I turn to Him and pray.

And although He is my best friend
He can be your best friend, too.
For His love has no boundaries
He has lots left just for you.

So stop and take a minute;
Welcome him into your heart.
You'll sense a wonderful feeling
That only His peace can impart.

"Lord, I ask that You would receive the maximum amount of glory in and through my life. Drench me in the power of Your presence and wring me out SO THAT others might be drawn to You. Keep my eyes open to opportunities to build others up in faith and keep my heart firmly rooted in Your love SO THAT I will always be prepared to give an answer for the reason of my Hope.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen."

7 Ways to Help A Friend In Crisis

My friend Cheri Keaggy
released a powerful album
three years ago. “So I Can Tell” is the light that has come out of a dark season of Cheri’s life.  The songs are heartfelt expressions of a woman who has come to know God deeply."

Today’s Bible verse: 3 John 1:4 "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in the truth."

Today’s quote: Philip Yancey - "As partners in God's work on earth, we insist that God's will be done while at the same time committing ourselves to whatever that may require of us. "Your kingdom come. Your will be done," Jesus taught us to pray (Matt. 6:10). These words are not calm requests but holy demands. Give us Justice! Set the world aright!...We are Christ's body on earth, to borrow Paul's metaphor in Colossians 1:24. Those we serve, Christ serves. When we extend mercy to the broken, we reach out with the hands of Christ Himself."  (Taken from Yancey's message, The Likes of Us, as found in 7/14/15 of Our Daily Bread devotionals).

Some thoughts today: We are challenged to expect great things from God, and to attempt great things for God.

- Remember that God's help is only a prayer away. Whatever your need, ask Him to enable you to do your best in the situation or project, and He will be there for you, to His praise and glory.

-  How do you see others' "getting ahead," if you are struggling? Or have you become rebellious, if you have become prosperous? Check your attitudes, as God checks them! That's what matters to Him.
