Our Strongholds

Max Lucado"Does a stronghold have a strong hold on you? Do you feel nothing but despair? Do you think thoughts of defeat?

A stronghold is a false premise that denies God’s promise. 2 Cor. 10:5 says “it sets itself up against the knowledge of God.” It attempts to magnify the problem and minimize God’s ability to solve it.

God could never forgive me That’s the stronghold of guilt.

Bad things always happen to me That’s the stronghold of self-pity.

I have to be in charge The stronghold of pride.

I don’t deserve to be loved The stronghold of rejection.

Most Christians don’t recognize strongholds. But we don’t have to be among them. Our weapons are from God and have divine power to demolish strongholds.

Isn’t that what you want? Keep God at center stage. Turn off the computer and open the Bible more! And turn to God for help."

Father, may my thoughts reflect the truth
about
what is Your thoughts; not any negative ones
I've gathered along the way.
Let Your Word relate to me how to stay
close to You, and to understand what You want
me to believe and live by.
We don't deserve Your mercy, but You give
it liberally to those who love and obey You.
Cause us to keep You center stage in our lives,
and hear Your thoughts to guide us daily.
I ask this in Jesus' Name.
Amen.

Today’s Bible verses: 2 Kings 6:16 "And he answered, Fear not for they that be with us are more than they that be with them."

2 Cor. 10:3-5 "For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty though God to the pulling down of strong holds."

Today’s quote: Sharon Jaynes - Is there something in your life that is crippling your spirit? Unforgiveness? Bitterness? Resentment? Guilt? Sorrow? Worry? Regret? Comparison? If so, cut it loose with the saber of praise, cast it off, throw it away. God calls us sheep; and sheep are not pack animals. We are not meant to carry such burdens with these scrawny legs of ours. If we try, we will only bend under the pressure we were never meant to bear." Sharon Jaynes

Some thoughts today: What does obedience look like? What does obedience have to do with worship?

~ Obedience- Compliance to an order or request heard and acted upon by doing it. Our obedience to God's commands will bring true worship. It leads to a closer relationship and blessings. Listen and obey...

Disobedience severs relationships, as rebellion, stubbornness and idolatry becomes evident. (see 1 Sam. 15) The 22nd verse shows what happened as a result of King Saul's disobedience.
