#79 Spiritual Power is Multiplied

Dr. Wesley L. Duewel: As you pray together, the prayer of each helps deepen the hunger for God's answer and helps fan into flame the spirit of prayer.

Love and unity are intensified, purified, and made more blessed. Faith for God's answer is strengthened. All who unite in prayer begin to sense God's power coming upon them and anointing their praying in a new way. (People praying, Google image)

As others reach out to God, you are helped to reach out more effectively. As you realize how heartbroken others are prevailing, you are so blessed that you too prevail more effectively.

Very  often God's refreshing, blessing, and power come in anew way, collectively, to a group, an experience the believers had at Pentecost and in Acts 4.

There is a spiritual dynamic hinted at in the Bible that when two or more people prevail together in faith, praying in the Spirit, their prayer power not only is added together, it seems multiplied.

Moses referred to one of Israel's people, by God's help, chasing a thousand of their enemies, and two, ten thousand (Deu. 32:30). Again, he promised that five would chase a hundred, and a hundred, ten thousand (Lev. 26:8).

The shout in united faith of Gideon's three hundred, although they were armed with nothing but flaming torches, completely routed the vast armies of Midian.

By the same principle, united faith, singing, and praise so confused Satan and the combined forces of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir that they were completely annihilated without a physical battle being fought by Israel (2 Chron. 20).

United prayer backing was what Paul so much desired. In his letters he pleads that the believers unite with him in prayer for his life and ministry.

To the Romans:
"I urge you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the
love of the Spirit, to join me in my struggle by praying to
    God for me" (Rom. 15:30).

To the Philippians Paul wrote,
"I know that through your prayers and the help given by
the Spirit of Jesus Christ, what has happened to me will
turn out for my deliverance" (Phil. 1:19).

To the Colossians: "Devote yourselves to prayer ... and pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message" (Col. 4:2-3).

And to the Thessalonians: "Finally, brothers, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored" (2 Thess. 3:1).

Let's pray-

Father, our learning the importance of uniting in our backing our leaders in prayer is what the Apostle Paul made it clear he needed.
His ministry depended upon the prayer support of those he'd ministered to,
teaching them of Jesus' life, death, burial and resurrection.
He knew their prayers were what would enable him to continue to be faithful to Christ in his living conditions, and in his ministry.
He, as well as our own church leaders, could be refreshed and blessed when a group collectively prays for them.
Let's desire to experience what the first believers did in Acts 4!
We pray for the help of Your Holy Spirit, Father, to enable us to pray effectively for our leaders and fellow brothers and sister. We ask this in the Name of Jesus. Amen.

Each Day Is a Gift

Each day is a new beginning
Given by God as a gift…
A chance for us to start over
And not let each new day drift.

We often waste many hours,
Time we cannot replace...
Let’s start today and begin anew.
Let’s set for ourselves a new pace.

Let’ walk with our hand in God’s hand.
Let Him alone guide our way.
When we choose to walk in His footsteps
There’s less of a chance we will stray.

Today's Bible verses-

Ephesians 2:2  "in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient."

Galatians 5:25  "Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step...with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other."

Today's quote-

Dr. Wesley L. Duewel- "Spurgeon said, 'If any minister can be satisfied without conversions, he shall have no conversions.'

We are too satisfied to carry on in our ministry with little or no outpourings of God's Spirit and with few regularly coming to the Lord. God gives souls only to those who cannot live without them.

The leader who is not hungry for souls is in serious need of a revival in his own heart. But there is no limit to what God can do if we are hungry enough and take specific steps to enlist the prayer of God's people." (p. 236 of his book, ABLAZE FOR GOD).
