Intercessioin Is a Spiritual Gift

C. Peter Wagner shares with us that "Intercession is not one of the 25 spiritual gifts mentioned specifically as gifts in the New Testament.

But, like the gift of exorcism, I believe it should be added to the list.

When I talk about this to pastors, they almost invariably tell me that in their congregations are certain people whom they and others openly recognize as having a special prayer ministry, over and above that of the average person. (Google image)

PRAY FIRST

James Banks- "Jack was a rough-spoken plumber who worked on our church building project several years ago. After he learned I was praying for him, he sometimes asked me to pray for his friends. I prayed daily for seven years for God to draw Jack near and save him.  (Google image, Plumer)

Your Prayer Controls Your Work

Dr. Wesley L. Duewel:  Regardless of your leadership role—pastor, teacher, Sunday School leader, lay leader, youth leader, missionary,[or work place]—adapt this to your situation.

1. Plan your intercession for your people. You will be sure to fail God and your people unless you have a regular prayer plan for your intercession times. If anything in life is worth planning, surely this is. (Google image, Lessons on Prayer)

#26 Discovering Your Gift of Intercession

C. Peter Wagner shares with us that "Many at this point will be asking, 'I wonder if I might have  the gift of intercession?'

If you do have it, remember that it is only because God has graciously chosen to give it to you.

It is not one of those skills such as ballet dancing or playing baseball that you acquire through hard work and persistence. (Google image, Praying with children)

#18 The Holy Spirit will Add Special Depth, Power

~ Dr. Wesley L. Duewel-

The Holy Spirit will add special depth, power, and faith to your prayer.

He will not only direct you to pray for special needs, but He will also guide you in how to pray for special needs, but He will also guide you in how to pray for them, will strengthen your faith as you pray, and will anoint and empower your praying.

In addition, as your Payer Partner, He will join you in praying and interceding at a depth not possible to you alone (Rom. 8:26-27).

#40 Prayer Shapes History

Alvin Vandergriend- "Another angel, who had a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense to offer, with the prayers of all the saints, on the golden altar before the throne. (v. 4) The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of the saints, went up before God from the angel's hand. (v. 5) Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and hurled it on the earth; and there came peals of thunder, rumblings, flashes of lightning and an earthquake." (Revelation 8:3-5) (Google image, People praying).

#17 God Seeks Intercessors

Alvin Vandergriend- "Several years ago I was making a determined effort to become a better intercessor. I tried to give it more time, cover more needs, and pray with greater intensity. For a while things went well. Soon, however, I fund myself skipping these extended prayer times when it wasn't convenient. But it bothered me that I could skip prayer so easily.  (Google image, Lady praying in pink dress)

#16 What Is Intercession?

Alvin Vandergriend- When we move from petition (praying for ourselves) to Intercession (praying for others), we are shifting the focus of prayer. We need to pray for ourselves so that we may receive all that God intends us to have. We also need to pray for others as an ace of self-giving love.  (Google image, Family praying together)

#102 How You Can Win Prayer Victories

Dr. Wesley L. Duewel- Prayer warfare is not your begging God to help you do His will, or trying to convince God of the magnitude of a need. Prayer warfare is joining Christ in driving out and defeating Satan and in setting his captives free.

It is advancing against Satan's strongholds and dislodging and expelling his demon forces. Satan is a pretender, with no right to dominate and enslave the lives of those for whom Christ died. (Woman praying by William Farlow Unsplash)

#82 When Should You Pray for Group Revival?

Dr. Wesley L. Duewel-  How do you know when you need to be deeply and prayerfully concerned for fresh revival in your local church or any group of which you are a participating member? (Google image, Together we pray)

#42 How to Fast Unto the Lord

Dr. Wesley L. Duewel- 1. Fast to please the Lord. Fast because you want to draw nearer to the Lord. Fast because He is so precious to you that you want to give Him a costly gift.

Fast because He suffered so much for you that you gladly choose to enter into the spirit of His cross. Fast because you love him and want to love Him more and more. In Zechariah 7:5, God asked, "Was it really for me that you fasted?" God treasures your fast when you fast to please Him. (Google image, Fasting) [good thoughts on fasting]

Awake My Soul

Awake my soul to follow him awake my soul to be
Like Him Who is my Lord and God my source of purity
No longer must I fear the past no longer flee the Son
But bask in His pure righteousness that covers all I've done

For many be the darts of him who dogs my steps each day
And many be his subtleties that draw me from the Way
But stronger is the grace in which my soul has found repose
And greater still the love of Him Who from the dead arose

And to this day prepares for me the path where I need go
And breaks the fallow ground in which He'd have me stop and sow
His seeds of love and truth and grace that other hearts might bring
To Him their laud and honor for the all He's offering

Of cleansing and renewal of a home beyond the sky
Where all will live in joyfulness and none will ever die
Where hills and vales will blossom in the glory of the Son
Who there will be the Light of life that makes us all as one

As endlessly we'll study all the beauty in His plan
That purchased our salvation when our Lord became a man
And suffered for the wrongs we'd done and often do today
That He might for the chosen few prepare a better Way

The Way that makes us just like Him in character and peace
Providing for the world to see His love that does not cease
But radiates through every trial and circumstance in life
And even finds the good that's hid sometimes in worldly strife

But how can we be purchased and redeemed by Godly blood
If we will not awake to see and share that crimson flood
That washes those who come to Him our sacrificial Lamb
Who will return in glory as Almighty Great I Am

But only for the faithful who searched daily in His Word
To verify the precious truths by scriptures they have heard
And turned away from all they'd learned that led them far astray
Because they did prefer the night and not the Light of day

So please my Lord awaken me and all those that I love
To seek Your ways Your grace Your peace we're soon to have above
That we might by Your Spirit's will be all that we might be
As channels of Your perfect love for all eternity
Romans 13:8-14; Revelation 21:22-27
Awake My Soul

(Google image, Jesus)
By Lee Forbes

Let's pray-

Father, I come to you in the name of Jesus, and find rest for my weary soul. Thank you for easing, relieving and refreshing me. Your yoke is wholesome—not harsh, hard, sharp or pressing, but comfortable, gracious and pleasant; your burden is light and easy to be borne. I cast my burden on you [releasing the weight of it] and you sustain me. You will never allow me to be moved—made to slip or fail, in the name of Jesus. Amen. 171-175 of 200 one-line Scriptures for those of you who want to learn some more this week
(I'm working on #321 today! I share 5 each Saturday.)

171- Matt. 5:16 "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
172- James 4:10 "Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and   he shall lift you up."
173- 1 Thess. 4:11 "And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your   own business, and to work with your own hands, as we   commanded  you."
174- Ps. 71:12 "O God, be not far from me; O my God, make hast   for my help."
175- 1 Cor. 4:20 "For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power."

Today's quotes-

~ Mary Southerland- God is an up-close and personal God. He met Nicodemus at night; He met the woman at the well of Samaria; He met the crippled man at the pool of Bethesda and He touched the blind man, giving him sight. As He walked through Jericho, Jesus saw a little man perched in a tree and called to him, "Zacchaeus, come down. We have a lunch appointment". He met Matthew at the customs' table and told him, "Rise, and follow me." We come to Jesus alone. There are no "group rates" when it comes to knowing God. It’s always one-on-one and very personal. What you believe about Him in the silence and stillness of your own heart is what makes the difference in your life journey. The heart is where all spiritual transactions are made and the transformation process begins. (Italics added) www.marysoutherland.com

~ Andrew Murray-  "Only in the union with the whole Body will each member be healthy and strong. Building up the Body of Christ in love is vital to our spiritual health." (p. 64 in Receiving Power from God)

Words of wisdom-

We can rejoice in God's marvelous Love for ever. His Love for us is wider, longer, higher and deeper than anything we know. Our gratitude for this glorious gift causes a life of blessing.
~ Sometimes God goes into your future for a word to encourage you to believe for more.

Today's guest post-
"I laughed when I looked out my window and these two geese waddling on the ice. They weren’t moving very fast. They seemed a bit confused. I don’t know if they got left behind when the flock they were traveling with headed south or if they just ignored the call . . .
What about you?
How are you going to walk out the vision God’s given you for 2020? "

#26 United in Ministry

Andrew Murray- When He ascended on high, Christ gave His Church the gifts of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers, "for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ" (Ephesians 4:12).

The apostles and prophets and pastors are not called to build up the Body of Christ. Their wok is the perfecting of the saints for the ministry o building up. Every saint is to be trained to take part in building up the Body of Christ. (Google image, The ascension of Christ )

#13 Reigning In Him

Andrew Murray- If the believer trusts the greatness of God's power and yields himself in entire subjection to let that power rule in his heart; if he will be content to trust the strength  that is made perfect in weakness and count all things loss for the sake of this blessed price;

Then God's Word is pledged that the power that raised Christ will work in him day by day until he knows what it means to live and reign with Christ in glory. (Google image, Here I am to worship) [Excellent message]

#24 The Fellowship of the Spirit in Prayer

Samuel Chadwick: The Holy Spirit does nothing of Himself, neither does He do anything for Himself. His mission is to glorify Christ, and all He does is based upon the finished work of Christ.

He could not be given until Jesus was glorified, and in experience there can be no Pentecost until there is a Coronation. The Spirit is the Coronation gift of Jesus, whom the Father has made to be both Lord and Christ. (Google image, Holy Spirit Power and fire)

#71 Your Prayer Controls Your Work

Dr. Wesley L. Duewel: As a leader your usefulness is dependent upon your prayer. Nothing brings more blessing and effectiveness as you visit your people.

Nothing puts more of the seal of God upon you before the community. Nothing does more to win the hearts of your people or give you more spiritual stature and respected leadership than your prayer life. Google image, Lessons on prayer.)

#51 Your Accountability as a Leader, Part 2

Dr. Wesley L. Duewel: We continue our discussion of leaders' responsibility to God and their people.

You will be accountable to practice what you say.

Jesus commanded us not to be like the Pharisees. "They do not practice what they preach" (Matt. 23:3-4). Bishop Ryle comments,
"So long as the world stands, this chapter ought to be a warning and a beacon to all ministers of religion. No sins are so sinful as theirs in the sight of Christ." (Google image, Pastors keep going through hard times)

The Last 20 of 60 Benefits of Praying in Tongues

Jean Oathout- Glenn Arekion tells us "By now you should be as enthused as the apostle Paul and declare, 'I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all.' (See First Corinthians 14:18).

Like great ministers such as John G. Lake, Smith Wigglesworth, and Oral Roberts, tongues will be the making of you and your ministry. (Google image, The Epistles of Paul)
