Intercessioin Is a Spiritual Gift

 

C. Peter Wagner shares with us that "Intercession is not one of the 25 spiritual gifts mentioned specifically as gifts in the New Testament.

But, like the gift of exorcism, I believe it should be added to the list.

When I talk about this to pastors, they almost invariably tell me that in their congregations are certain people whom they and others openly recognize as having a special prayer ministry, over and above that of the average person. (Google image)

Your Prayer Controls Your Work

If you do have it, remember that it is only because God has graciously chosen to give it to you.

#18 The Holy Spirit will Add Special Depth, Power

The Holy Spirit will add special depth, power, and faith to your prayer. 

   He will not only direct you to pray for special needs, but He will also guide you in how to pray for special needs, but He will also guide you in how to pray for them, will strengthen your faith as you pray, and will anoint and empower your praying. 

   In addition, as your Payer Partner, He will join you in praying and interceding at a depth not possible to you alone (Rom. 8:26-27).

He was given much incense to offer, with the prayers of all the saints, on the golden altar before the throne. (v. 4) The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of the saints, went up before God from the angel's hand.    Alvin Vandergriend- When we move from petition (praying for ourselves) to Intercession (praying for others), we are shifting the focus of prayer.    Dr. Wesley L. Duewel- Prayer warfare is not your begging God to help you do His will, or trying to convince God of the magnitude of a need. Prayer warfare is joining Christ in driving out and defeating Satan and in setting his captives free.

   Dr. Wesley L. Duewel- 1. Fast to please the Lord. Fast because you want to draw nearer to the Lord. Fast because He is so precious to you that you want to give Him a costly gift.

   Fast because He suffered so much for you that you gladly choose to enter into the spirit of His cross. Fast because you love him and want to love Him more and more. And even finds the good that's hid sometimes in worldly strife

But how can we be purchased and redeemed by Godly blood

If we will not awake to see and share that crimson flood

That washes those who come to Him our sacrificial Lamb

Who will return in glory as Almighty Great I Am

But only for the faithful who searched daily in His Word

To verify the precious truths by scriptures they have heard

And turned away from all they'd learned that led them far astray

Because they did prefer the night and not the Light of day

So please my Lord awaken me and all those that I love

To seek Your ways Your grace Your peace we're soon to have above

That we might by Your Spirit's will be all that we might be

As channels of Your perfect love for all eternity

   Andrew Murray- When He ascended on high, Christ gave His Church the gifts of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers, "for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ" (Ephesians 4:12).

   The apostles and prophets and pastors are not called to build up the Body of Christ. Their wok is the perfecting of the saints for the ministry o building up. Every saint is to be trained to take part in building up the Body of Christ. (Google image, The ascension of Christ )

Andrew Murray- If the believer trusts the greatness of God's power and yields himself in entire subjection to let that power rule in his heart; if he will be content to trust the strength  that is made perfect in weakness and count all things loss for the sake of this blessed price;

   Samuel Chadwick: The Holy Spirit does nothing of Himself, neither does He do anything for Himself. His mission is to glorify Christ, and all He does is based upon the finished work of Christ.
