#111 The Pitfall of Ignorance

C. Peter Wagner: "Ignorance is first on my list of pitfalls because it is undoubtedly the most effective tool of the enemy. It works in several ways.

Many Christians are ignorant of spiritual warfare in general, and even among those who do know about spiritual warfare many are unaware of the strategic -level variety that deals with territorial spirits.

Those who do not know a war is on pose no threat to Satan and forces of darkness.

Some who are aware of strategic-level spiritual warfare and do not deny the existence of principalities and powers, have decided it is not an activity intended for the church today because they have never taken the pains to investigate it deeply enough.

They think it has insufficient theological, biblical and experiential ground. They have decided not to enlist in the army.

Others have a desire to do damage to the spiritual strongholds over a city or nation, but are ignorant of sound methodology.

Fortunately, resources and teaching in this field are multiplying rapidly and this type of ignorance should soon be a thing of the past.

One of the worst dangers is to become involved in strategic-level spiritual warfare without knowing you are in it.

I will not mention the name of the denomination, but a group of American Christian young people who were opposed to pornography decided to attend the Porno Festival in Copenhagen, Denmark, with the express purpose of denouncing pornography as sin and calling the people there to repentance.

Eighteen of them went and preached day after day in front of porno stores and displays. They reported hundreds of conversions, although further investigation showed that little or none of that fruit actually remained.

But the worst thing was that within the next few years, every single one of the 18 fell into pornography addiction or illicit sex!

The danger is that ignorance of the spirit world can lead to foolishness. These young people had no idea they were not wrestling with flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers, and they paid the consequences."

Father, what I read in Your Word causes me to ask more questions about You. It does seem as though You have mysteries for me to uncover in there!
May I be open to learn from You through reading Your Word, and the preaching I hear, and also from the experiences of others.
I don't want to be ignorant of what the Enemy is up to in my life and community, so am open for Your Holy Spirit's teaching me the way to be effective for the Kingdom.
Prompt me to pray for our leaders in my church, that they'll listen to Your plans for them and us.
I ask this in the Name of Jesus. Amen

Today’s Bible verse : Prov. 16:23 "The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips."

Ps. 86:11 "Teach me thy way, O LORD; I will walk in thy truth: unite  my heart to fear thy name."

Today’s quote: Lawrence Darmani - "To claim to believe in God and not in His Son Jesus Christ is a contradiction in terms. In John 10:30, Jesus clearly descries the unique relationship between Himself and God: "I and the Father are one"—thus establishing His deity. That is why He could say, "You believe in God; believe also in me." (John 14:1). Paul knew that Jesus is the very nature of God and equal with God (Phil. 2:6).

We need not shy away from the name Jesus, for "salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). [Our Daily Bread 11/7/15]

Some thoughts today: Sometimes believers become deceivers
when they come against the promises someone believes.
Their perceptions appear negative and can cause pessimism.

~ The promises of God are not necessarily what someone
perceives them to be for you. You have to seek God's plans
for you as an individual, and learn what He plans to
accomplish through the promises you've found.

~ Over time, you'll find God's Spirit will transform you. Changes  within you will effect relationships all around you. You died, and your life is hidden in Christ. A new operating principle is that you're a child of God! (see Rom. 8:10, 11)
