#11 Intercession Is a Spiritual Warfare

C. Peter Wagner shares with us, Jane Anne Pratt is one of Doris's and my personal prayer partners.

She is a member of the Dallas, Texas staff of the Eastern European Seminary mission organization.

Even before she was a staff member she had been called as a personal intercessor for
John Maisel, the mission's president.  (Google image, Prayer Partners)

Fruits of Prayer

There is no greater time than this to seek the Lord in prayer
When trials and tribulations are abundant everywhere
When people who've been led astray are living life in fear
They need to know no matter what our God is always here

#18 The Holy Spirit will Add Special Depth, Power

~ Dr. Wesley L. Duewel-

The Holy Spirit will add special depth, power, and faith to your prayer.

He will not only direct you to pray for special needs, but He will also guide you in how to pray for special needs, but He will also guide you in how to pray for them, will strengthen your faith as you pray, and will anoint and empower your praying.

In addition, as your Payer Partner, He will join you in praying and interceding at a depth not possible to you alone (Rom. 8:26-27).

#40 Prayer Shapes History

Alvin Vandergriend- "Another angel, who had a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense to offer, with the prayers of all the saints, on the golden altar before the throne. (v. 4) The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of the saints, went up before God from the angel's hand. (v. 5) Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and hurled it on the earth; and there came peals of thunder, rumblings, flashes of lightning and an earthquake." (Revelation 8:3-5) (Google image, People praying).

#39 Prayer Defeats Satan

Alvin Vandergriend- "Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift you as wheat. (v. 32) But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers." (Luke 22:31-32.)

There are two powerful forces at work in the world today — the power of God and the power of Satan. The power of God is infinitely greater, but we are affected by both. (Google image, Jesus talking with Peter)

#107 Your Prayer Can Be An Eternal Investment

Dr. Wesley L. Duewel- Prayer is not only a way to commune with God and to receive help from God, it is an eternal investment! Heaven's records are adequately kept by the angels. Our God is not so unjust as to forget your work and the love you show Him by helping others (Heb. 6:10).

Neither is He likely to forget your holy longings, your intercession, and your tears. Self-centered prayers will be lost, but such is not true prayer. Nor do prayers prayed from the wrong motivation have any validity before God (James 4:3). [Google image, Man kneeling in prayer]

#99 Urgent Prayer Can Be Agonizing

Dr. Wesley L. Duewel- Prayer is hard work and more. There are wonderful times of refreshing in prayer, but there are also times of hard, unglamorous, unspectacular labor in intercession. Prayer is realism. Mountains are to be moved; demons are to be routed.

The superficial Christian resents prayer that is work, wrestling, warfare. Then suddenly there is a tragic accident, terminal illness, or imminent death. Then the superficial Christian pleads for the prayer of those who know how to prevail. Suddenly he wants nothing less than importunate praying.   (Unsplash, image, by Geron Dison

#70 Elijah Was Just Like You

Dr. Wesley L. Duewel- Scripture biographies are selective and very condensed. the mighty examples of faith listed in Hebrews 11 and elsewhere in God's Word may not only bless you, they may sometimes cause you to wonder if perhaps these people belonged to some elite class of saints who lived on a higher level of humanity than the rest of us mortals. Do you at times suspect that there may be very few such saints of God living today? (Google image, Who Was Elijah?

#62 Your Praise Can Rout the Devil

Dr. Wesley L. Duewel- There are many times when it is more important to praise God than to continue in petition. Praise lifts your eyes from the battle to the victory,  for Christ is already Victor, and you have the Victor in your heart that you might have His victory in your life and your prayer.

Normally, all prayer should begin with praise (Ps. 100:4). The Holy Spirit often wants to lead you out of hurried intercession into victorious praise. Burden-bearing is scriptural, but praise is even more so. (Google image, Woman praising God)

#86 The Spirit's Anointing Enables You Mentally

Dr. Wesley L. Duewel: 2. The Spirit's anointing enables you mentally. The Holy Spirit can add alertness, aptness of expression, creativity, and the ability to say with unusual clarity what God wants said.

Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit would bring to your remembrance the things He had told them (John 14:26). this special enablement of memory was not reserved for the apostles and the writers of Scripture. (Google image, Preaching: Behind the scenes)

#75 Your Responsibility to Intercede for Your People

Dr. Wesley L. Duewel: God has given you no greater responsibility than that of interceding for your people. It is as urgent to bring your people before God in prayer as it is to bring God before your people in your messages.

You must intercede for your ministry, the services, and the outreach. But you must also intercede for your people family by family and person by person. (Calling men to pray).

#61 Prepare Your People for Prayer Ministry

Dr. Wesley L. Duewel: Prayer is a form of ministry Christ desires for every believer. We are saved to pray for others. Prayer is the basis for whatever other ministry one has.

Prayer can be the most important ministry in most Christians' lives. One of your greatest responsibilities is to help your people become a praying people, and to help them make their intercession effective for Christ. (Google image, Silhouette of people praying)

#133 Dangers in Prayer Warfare, 1-3

Dr. Wesley L. Duewel: Satan takes your prayer warfare very seriously. He does not leave lives, situations, or places unless he is driven out. He opposes your advance with every weapon at his disposal.

He attacks you on every level that he dares—physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. (Google image, Spiritual warfare).

God Is Able

God is able to save all who come unto Him. "Wherefore He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him (Jesus), seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them" (Heb. 7:25). (Google image, Open Bible)

#119 Prayer Agony is Godlike

Dr. Wesley L. Duewel: Do you begin to realize why Spirit-born prayer agony is so precious to God, so powerful before God, and so dreaded by all the demon forces of hell?

The Philistines of Beth Shemesh cried in terror,  "Who can stand in the presence of the LORD, this holy God?" (Sam. 6:20). Even so, the demons in hell must cry or shriek to one another, "Who can withstand such prevailing before God?" (Google image, Agony of Jesus)

#114 Wrestling Prayer is Spiritual Labor

Dr. Wesley L. Duewel: All intercession is real and serious communication with God. It is not casual, even when beautifully simple. It is sacred and important to God and to us.

But prevailing prayer, especially in its more intense form, includes labor, effort, and perseverance. (Google image, Praying together.)

#102 Jesus Said We Would Fast: Level 4

Dr. Wesley L. Duewel: Jesus, speaking of you and me, said, "Then they will fast" (Matt. 9:15). He was referring to His followers during the period between His ascension and His return.

Jesus expects all His children to fast. Why? It is an even higher level of intensity of prayer, level four. Ask, seek, knock, fast. (Google image, Jesus teaching His disciples).

#77 God Honors United Prayer

Dr. Wesley L. Duewel: We have discussed uniting together for the same request. Now we consider untied prayer.

United prayer can occur in the regular services of the church at periods when all join in intercession.

Alas, often so little time is given during worship services for united intercession. No part of the service has greater potential for blessing than when the congregation takes time for united prevailing intercession for definite needs. (Google image)

#74 The Dynamic of Uniting in Prayer

Dr. Wesley L. Duewel: There is unusual power in united prayer. God has planned for His people to join together in prayer, not only for Christian fellowship, spiritual nurture, and growth, but also for accomplishing His divine purposes and reaching His chosen goals.

In unity there is strength, a principle that is true in all of life, in the family and nation and among the people of God. The principle of Ecclesiastes 4:12 applies in spiritual life and prayer warfare:

#61 The Prayer of Faith (Part 2)

Dr. Wesley L. Duewel: Dr. Duewel continues..
4) "It is the prayer that believes regardless of feelings or emotions. Faith trusts God in spite of contradictions and the absence of feelings or even in spite of your feelings. It has sometimes been called "naked" faith. (Google image added)
